His leadership established two enduring companies whose influence continues to shape the residential textiles and furniture industries today.
- Carole Sloan – Founding editor of Home Textiles Today, Sloan became one of the home textiles industry’s most influential voices. Through decades of journalism and market insight, she informed, connected and championed the industry while mentoring countless professionals and helping shape its future.
- Meri Stevens – As president and creative director of Waverly, Stevens helped build one of the most iconic home textile brands. Her creative vision, leadership and ability to anticipate consumer trends elevated Waverly’s influence on the industry while inspiring generations of designers, merchandisers and textile professionals.
The inductees will be formally celebrated during a special Textile Hall of Fame Cocktail Reception at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, during Interwoven in High Point, North Carolina. The event will honor each inductee’s remarkable career and enduring contributions while bringing together industry colleagues, family and friends to celebrate their legacies.
“The textile industry has been shaped by extraordinary individuals whose vision, leadership and generosity have strengthened our businesses and our communities,” said David Lappert, president of the International Textile Alliance and founder of the Textile Hall of Fame initiative. “The Textile Hall of Fame was created to ensure those contributions are recognized and preserved for future generations. By celebrating the people who have helped build this industry, we also inspire the leaders who will carry it forward.”
Established by ITA in 2024, the Textile Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who exemplify leadership and lasting influence within the textile industry, distinguished professional achievement, creative innovation that advances the industry and service to both the textile community and the broader community.
The Hall of Fame was created to celebrate exceptional careers while preserving the stories and accomplishments of those whose work continues to shape the future of textiles.
