Brown Jordan names new SVP, national sales manager

Brown Jordan Inc. announces that Layne Koldewyn has been promoted to the newly-created position of senior vice president of retail sales for outdoor businesses and Sara Smarr has been hired as national sales manager, stores and showrooms.

In this new role, Koldewyn will oversee all aspects of the dealer network, including sales and relationship management for four of the company’s signature brands including Brown Jordan, Winston, Castelle and Tropitone. Koldewyn will report to Kris Yates, Brown Jordan Inc.’s chief commercial officer.

“I’m pleased to have Layne in this newly-created role, overseeing the consumer retail strategy across our outdoor brands,” Yates says. “This role was developed to better serve our dealer partners with a strong product offering and coordinated manufacture coverage. Layne brings a strong background in sales strategy that delivers growth for our partners and our business.”

Koldewyn originally joined Brown Jordan Inc. in early 2019 as vice president of sales for Winston. Under his leadership, the Winston brand experienced record sales growth and significantly strengthened its existing dealer relationships while growing the brand by expanding retail partnerships in new territories.

“We have an enormous opportunity to synergize the power of Brown Jordan Inc.’s portfolio of trusted brands while simultaneously growing each brand’s individual identity and unique assortments to better partner across our dealer network,” Koldewyn says.

Reporting directly to Koldewyn will be Zachary Hertlein and Rory Rehmert, who will work together to strengthen the dealer business across the retail outdoor brands.

“With Layne’s appointment, we now have the strongest possible leadership team across all of Brown Jordan’s outdoor brands to further support our continued growth,” adds Yates. “In addition to the four brands now overseen by Koldewyn, Brown Jordan Inc. also owns and operates the Charter and Texacraft brands.

Smarr will oversee the sales management teams at stores and showrooms to drive traffic, increase brand awareness and drive profitable growth. She previously worked as director of trade sales and U.S. marketing at Dedon, where she was responsible for the Dedon New York flagship’s relocation, growing sales to over $5 million. Prior to Dedon, she was New York Showroom Manager at Janus Et Cie. All Brown Jordan Company store and showroom managers report to Smarr.
