American Silk Mills has named Oscar Reig-Plaza—formerly vice president of sales at Covington Fabrics and owner of Barcelona Sales.—as its new chief executive officer.
In addition to leading the executive team at American Silk Mills, Reig-Plaza will also be responsible for American Silk’s parent company, Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited’s home textile division. In a release, the company says the operational synergies created by the two companies will enhance the ability for American Silk Mills to create, produce, and distribute an exquisite range of luxury textiles.
Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited (STIL) is the flagship textiles company of the KK Birla Group headquartered in India. The textile solutions provider produces a range of products including value-added and specialty yarns, fabrics for home furnishings, contract drapery, and upholstery.
Sutlej currently serves a global clientele with its presence in major developed and emerging markets across more than 60 countries. The company is “an internationally recognized industry leader in the use of state-of-the-art technology and the implementation of eco-friendly and sustainable manufacturing practices and processing- achieving the Global Recycle Standard,” according to the release.
Sutlej employs more than 16,000 employees and serves the communities in which it operates through measures aimed at health, education, environmental protection, and relief during natural calamities that improve and protect lives. Comprehensive measures taken by Sutlej Textiles over and above government mandates have given its employees “the confidence to excel, alongside drives to ensure 100% COVID-19 vaccination by September 2021.”
