HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point Market Authority’s Sunday keynote address at market will explore the connection between science, wellness and design. “Creating Health-based Design: Beauty, Neuroaesthetics and Biophilia,” will be presented in partnership with Science in Design at 3 p.m. April 26 in the High Point Theatre.
An immersive keynote presentation will spotlight interior designers certified through the Science in Design educational program, including Kat Blue, Marie Cloud, Michelle George, Angela Harris, Gabrielle Kozhukh-Joo and Erica McLain. Drawing from each designer’s work, program founder Mike Peterson will lead a first-ever virtual show house tour demonstrating design principles informed by neuroaesthetics and biophilia.

Citing research from Johns Hopkins University and the Penn Center for Neuroaesthetics, the presentation explores how interior design supports health and well-being through intentional, science-based choices. With the aid of 3D renderings, attendees will experience how emerging insights are translated into practical, beautiful interiors.
“This keynote offers a compelling look at how science and design intersect to enhance the way we live,” said Tammy Covington, president and CEO of HPMA. “Guests will gain a deeper understanding of how designers are using research-driven strategies to create spaces that positively impact the human experience.”
The Sunday keynote is open to all registered High Point Market attendees. The High Point Theatre is located next to the Transportation Terminal. The venue will open its doors at 2:30 p.m. Additional keynote event details may be found online at highpointmarket.org/keynoteseries.
