Holly Hunt relaunches Vladimir Kagan’s Capricorn collection

Outdoor furnishings brand Holly Hunt has relaunched the iconic Capricorn collection, originally designed in 1952 by Vladimir Kagan. Chris Eitel, design director at the Vladimir Kagan Design Group, has reimagined the collection with a modern take that honors the original design.

The 10-piece, wire-framed collection was designed with sweeping curves and tensile lines to evoke an architectural lightness. The Capricorn collection was only originally produced for a couple of years because of the complexity of their manufacturing process.

For the relaunch, Holly Hunt and Eitel partnered with a firm renowned for its expertise in shaping and sculpting metal with seamless welding.

“Throughout the development process, we wanted to ensure that all edits and refinements made to the pieces were done so with careful intentionality and Vladi’s spirit in mind,” said Eitel. “We worked intimately with the manufacturing team to maintain that connection between designer and craftsman which is at the heart of Kagan’s design DNA.”

The Capricorn collection comes in two finishes — Crema and Espresso. The 10-piece line includes a lounge chair, sofa, chaise lounge, bistro table, bar stool, round dining table, square dining table, dining chair, cocktail table and a two-tiered end table. Each piece is crafted in powder-coated stainless steel with signature wire basket forms, tailored cushions and glass surfaces that reflect Kagan’s sculptural approach to outdoor living.

“I’ve always felt that these pieces deserve a place in today’s design landscape, and I’m proud of the work this team has done to revive the Capricorn Collection,” said Jo Annah Kornak, senior vice president and executive creative director at Holly Hunt. “Chris and Mark have preserved the essence of the Vladimir Kagan brand while thoughtfully advancing its design language, spending years perfecting the production. This process truly pays homage to Kagan’s innovative spirit.”
