Pook outdoor cooker earns Henry van de Velde award

The Pook outdoor grill and baking device was honored with a Henry van de Velde Award, which recognized Flemish designers, companies, products, projects, services and systems that, through the smart use of design, have a positive impact on society, the environment and the economy.

Designed by Belgian furniture designer Jeff Rutten and named for the Dutch word for fire poker, the steel cooker features a minimalist design with no unnecessary parts or fragile components. The Pook has an open yet controlled fire chamber that offers a range of temperatures from slow, steady warmth for baking to intense heat for grilling.

The cooker has removable baking and grilling racks allowing flexibility in distance from the wood fire or hot coals, which enables a wider variation of cooking temperatures.

Pook earned the Henry van de Velde Award in the Habitat category, with the award jury calling it “a visually distinctive product, with readability enabling intuitive use. In addition, the product researched common BBQ actions. Pook is an object with its own character and humor, with considerable attention to detail and finished to perfection.”
