Over the past decade or so, the value of the casual category has soared. And with that growing demand for outdoor products, full-line furniture companies and retailers have made significant investments in growing their casual offerings.
For our Best in Casual Awards, presented in partnership with the International Casual Furnishings Association and Andmore, and sponsored by Snap Finance, we received nominations for full-line retailers that go above and beyond in selling the outdoor category. Furnitureland South
The largest furniture retail store in the United States, with more than 1.3 million square feet of showroom space, Furnitureland South has always done outdoor in a big way. In 2019, the retailer upped the ante on outdoor, opening a new 30,000-square-foot casual showroom.
The outdoor gallery at Furnitureland South takes customers along meandering pathways through a Southern front porch vignette — complete with traditional haint blue ceiling paint — past coastal vistas and into rustic lakeside retreats. Along the way, visitors can shop the store’s expansive selection of casual furnishings from Lloyd Flanders, Summer Classics, Telescope Casual, Jensen Outdoor, Bernhardt, Gloster and more. Outdoor displays extend beyond the store’s front door, as well, with exterior furnishings situated beneath the the world’s largest highboy dresser on the front of the building.
Nebraska Furniture Mart
With locations in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Texas, Nebraska Furniture Mart has become a destination in the Midwest for home furnishings. And that includes the outdoor category.
The retailer’s first Texas location opened 10 years ago in the Dallas area with more than 560,000 square feet of furnishings, appliances, decor and more on two levels. A second Texas outlet is slated to open near Austin in 2027.
Nebraska Furniture Mart carries a wide range of outdoor furnishings from brands such as Outdoor by Ashley, Telescope Casual, Tropitone, Winston and Lane Venture, among others. The retailer also carries just about everything else a consumer could possibly need for their backyard, from grills and firepits to lawn mowers and snow blowers.
Clive Daniel Home
Serving the design-driven South Florida region, Clive Daniel Home offers customers a full-service experience for creating sophisticated and stylish outdoor spaces.
Clive Daniel operates showrooms in Sarasota, Boca Raton, Fort Myers and Naples, which is home to its 85,000-square-foot flagship. Each of its locations employs staff interior designers, who assist customers with creating the outdoor room of their dreams. And being situated in Southern Florida, Clive Daniel also specializes in hospitality design, working with clients such as the Ritz-Carlton and Olde Florida Motorcoach Resort.
Clive Daniel carries high-end outdoor brands such as Tuuci, Summer Classics and Seasonal Living, among others.
