Robert Albert “Bob” Lee died Aug. 7 in Boerne, Texas. He was 84.
Born on Aug. 3, 1940, Bob dedicated over four decades to the family business, OW Lee Co., where he ascended to president and expanded the business significantly. Under his leadership, OW Lee achieved national and international acclaim, solidifying its reputation in the outdoor furniture industry.
“My dad brought just a little more excitement and enthusiasm to whatever we were doing, business or otherwise,” OW Lee President Terri Rogers tells Home News Now. “He wasn’t always an easy-going kind of guy, but he was kind and generous. He was a very special man and we will miss him greatly.”
In recognition of his contributions, Bob and his wife, Beverly, were honored with the International Casual Furniture Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
Bob’s passion for business was matched by his love for politics, golf, poker and exploring North America in his motorhome. These interests brought him much joy and closer to his community of friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Lee; children, Brian Lee and Terri Rogers, and Jeanine Goff; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, with another soon to join the family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Oddist (O.W.) and Gerda Lee.
A service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, at 2 pm at the Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas. His legacy will live on through his family, friends and the many lives he touched.
