A brief history of Higold Outdoor Furniture

There are not many connections between outdoor furniture and luxury car brand Ferrari — except for Higold, a unique furniture company showing in the temporaries at Casual Market.

Pininfarina is a brand best known for its automotive designs and former decades-long partnership with Ferrari. They produced over 100 Ferrari cars before leaving the automotive category to focus on architecture, aviation, consumer electronics, home appliances, nautical, retail and transportation sectors.

The history of Higold as a company goes back to 1989. The company established itself as a reliable manufacturer of kitchen hardware in the ’90s, and then, moving in the direction of outdoor furniture, added the category to the mix first under private label. It eventually developed into an independent brand and is now an international company with a presence in Holland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, the U.S. and Qatar.

The brand has both high-end as well and middle-tier products that offer a sleek, luxurious look. Its design is different from much of the outdoor furniture on the market, featuring subtle and chic design features that bring a new look to the industry.

Jason Chen, director of marketing, says the response to the collection at market has been positive among both designers and retailers, and that they are excited to see something new, different and fresh.
