IMC reports summer market attendance up over last year

International Market Centers said attendance at the July 24-28 market at World Market Center was up 8% over summer 2021 “indicating an acceleration in the market’s overall recovery from more than two years of COVID-19-induced disruptions.”

Some 35% of attendees were new to Las Vegas Market, according to a release, and 9% said they returned for their first market since before the pandemic. The summer show attracted attendees from 48 states, three U.S. territories and 49 countries. The largest domestic gains were in attendees from the Northeast and Western regions, and international attendance nearly doubled over last summer, pacing to near pre-pandemic levels., IMC said.

In addition, attendance from the West Coast design community was up more than 20% over summer 2021. IMC did not disclose a headcount.

The event included more than 200 new, expanded or relocated brands in a market of more than 800 permanent showrooms and 350+ temporary exhibits.

“Las Vegas Market’s delivery of the experiences that buyers love — unique must-have product, the ability to connect with industry leaders and unmatched programming — drew attendees out of stores and studios to market,” IMC CEO Bob Maricich said in the release.

“A significant number of new buyers and those returning from a pandemic hiatus joined market loyalists to tap the power of Las Vegas Market as they plan for a successful end of 2022.”
