HFA announces 2020 Retailer of the Year Award winners

ROSEVILLE, Calif. -The Home Furnishings Association recognizes Interiors Home, PerLora Furniture Design, Dave Koehler, CEO of Johnny Janosik, Sydney Harris of Furnitureland South, and Synchrony as Home Furnishings Association’s top award winners for 2020.

The official announcement was made during the HFA annual membership meeting held virtually on Thursday, January 21, 2021. HFA will be working with each winner to plan appropriate celebrations to honor each recipient in the coming months.

2020 HFA Award winners:

Interiors Home in Lancaster, Pa.
  1. Based in Lancaster, Pa., led by Todd Lehman, Interiors Home is the HFA’s Retailer of the Year with 50 or more employees.
  2. PerLora Furniture Design of Pittsburgh, Pa., owned by Lora Sigesmund, is the Retailer of the Year for fewer than 50 employees.
  3. Dave Koehler, CEO of Johnny Janosik, headquartered in Laurel, Del., is the winner of the HFA Trailblazer award.
  4. Sydney Harris, the sales trainer of Jamestown, N.C.-based Furnitureland South, is the Emerging Star award recipient.
  5. Synchrony is the award winner in the newest award category, HFA Partner of the Year, for its outstanding value to HFA members.

HFA doubled the number of award nominees and added the new award category, HFA Partner of the Year. 

“Nominations came from retailers, and the judges represent all aspects of our industry, so to be named a retailer of the year means these honorees are highly respected and accomplished. They stand out and represent the best of the home furnishings industry,” said Mark Schumacher, HFA CEO.

The Trailblazer award recognizes lifetime achievement in the retail furniture business. Koehler was selected based on several factors, including:

The Emerging Star award recognizes an outstanding professional who has been in the retail furniture business for less than five years. Harris was chosen for her accomplishments in several categories, including:

The Partner of the Year award recognizes the HFA Solution Partner contributing to our members’ success as a partner with HFA. The judging criteria were based on:
