HIGH POINT, N.C. — Concrete outdoor furnishings maker Edge34 will bring two new finishes to its sculptural pieces at the upcoming fall High Point Market. The new colors — Ombre Grey and Fuego — will be available on the company’s full planter collection, including the new Sonoma medium, Sonoma large and Vintage Vessel planters.
Finishes are created through a hand-layering process that builds color directly across the surface. The technique makes subtle variation part of the design, where tone, placement and transitions shift slightly from piece to piece, ensuring that no two are exactly alike.
Ombre Grey creates a graduated transition from deep charcoal to soft dove gray. Applied individually by hand, its tonal movement appears organic rather than precisely banded, allowing light and shadow to subtly change the character of the piece throughout the day.
Fuego takes a warmer, more dramatic approach. Inspired by flame, the finish moves through deep browns, bronze, deep reds and golds, with layers that respond differently to changing light and viewing angles. The result gives the concrete an unexpected warmth and visual depth while retaining the strength of its architectural form.
“Concrete is an extraordinary material because there is always another way to explore what it can become,” said Kimberly Spencer, co-founder of Edge34. “With these finishes, the hand of the artisan becomes part of what you see. The form may be architectural and disciplined, but the surface has movement, variation and warmth. Each piece develops its own character.”
With a gently tapered profile and restrained sculptural silhouette, the Sonoma medium provides a versatile scale for residential, hospitality and commercial interiors. Measuring 13½ inches in diameter and 26½ inches high, the planter takes on added dimensionality in the new applied finishes, which accentuate its uninterrupted surface and architectural simplicity.
At 18⅛ inches in diameter and 35 inches high, the Sonoma large extends the same clean Sonoma silhouette into a more commanding vertical form. Its scale makes it particularly suited to architectural interiors and larger spaces where greenery and the vessel containing it can become an integral part of the composition.
Measuring 22 inches in diameter and 20 inches high, the Vintage Vessel offers a broader, lower profile with softly rounded proportions. The simplicity of the form creates a generous canvas for the tonal movement of Ombre Grey and the layered coloration of Fuego.
Both Ombre Grey and Fuego are available across Edge34’s complete planter collection, allowing designers to pair different forms and scales while carrying a coordinated finish language throughout a project.
“Designers are looking for pieces that contribute something meaningful to a space rather than simply occupy it,” Spencer said. “Our work begins with architecture and material, but ultimately it is about creating furnishings with enough presence and personality to belong in extraordinary environments.”
