Sunbrella debuts new fabrics in its CW Stockwell collaboration

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Sunbrella has expanded its Joy collection made in partnership with California-based textile house CW Stockwell. The collection additions made their debut this week at Legends of Design L.A.

The new designs build on the initial offering of the CW Stockwell x Sunbrella collection, introducing fresh patterns as well as reinterpretations of archival looks. The collection includes six patterns available in two to five colorways each.

“For 120 years, CW Stockwell has celebrated bold patterns and timeless appeal,” said Katy Polsby, CEO at CW Stockwell. “We are excited to build upon our bestselling Joy Collection with a range of new patterns that will endure for years to come. Our extensive pattern library, combined with Sunbrella’s high-quality production and manufacturing techniques, makes it possible for these fabrics to go anywhere — from the pool house to the main house — and honor the enduring legacies of both brands.”

The Lucile Stripe uses second-generation owner Lucile Stockwell Chatain’s favorite daisy design mixed with a shimmering stripe and topped with contrasting center dots. Marais takes inspiration from the map of the Marais neighborhood in Paris with a mix of yarn types that create a dynamic grid. Inspired by a 1946 wallpaper, the Patio Stripe comes in modern colors with a subtle dimension that makes it soft to the touch.

Seacliff, a proprietary textured solid, is named after a neighborhood in CW Stockwell’s hometown of San Francisco, while the Soleil Stripe takes inspiration from the beach clubs of the French Riviera and elevates the classic cabana look with a weave of soft terry and bouclé. And using CW Stockwell’s bestselling Million Flowers as a blueprint, the two-color Sunprint offers a graphic, modern take on florals.

The new patterns join existing collection styles, including Cabana, Jules, Martinique, Million Flowers, Basket Plaid and more. Each fabric boasts Sunbrella’s durability and UV-stability, making them suitable for use indoors and out.

“This collaboration is about honoring storied design history while making it relevant for how people live today,” said Greg Voorhis, executive director, global design at Sunbrella. “CW Stockwell’s patterns are instantly recognizable, and pairing them with Sunbrella performance allows these legacy patterns to be used more freely, indoors, outdoors and everywhere in between.”

The CW Stockwell x Sunbrella collection is available in upholstery, cushions, drapery and more, as well as a line of pillows in 12×21, 20×20 and 24×24 sizes.
