Summer Classics’ Putt for Hope raises funds for City of Hope

HIGH POINT, N.C. — During the recent High Point Market, Summer Classics once again hosted its Putt for Hope event to raise funds for City of Hope.

Summer Classics Vice President Harold Hudson launched the event — which invites players to donate $20 to City of Hope for a chance to win prizes in a putting challenge — in February at the International Casual Furnishings Association’s educational conference. That event raised nearly $700 for City of Hope, and the High Point Market edition bested that by raising more than $800.

“What a great turnout for City of Hope. In two hours we raised $860, and there are still some payments coming in via QR code,” Hudson said. “I want to thank the ICFA and the Summer Classics/Gabby marketing department for helping me organize the event.”

Hudson will be honored with City of Hope’s Lifetime Achievement Award next month for his work in raising funds for the California-based cancer research and treatment center. Along with Putt for Hope, Hudson has led several other fundraising initiatives for City of Hope, including during his tenure as ICFA board chair encouraging members of the organization to participate in the annual International Home Furnishings Industry West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament.

Last year, the industry raised nearly $1 million in donations during the tournament, when casual industry vets Catherine and Richard Frinier were honorees. Hudson said he hopes to raise more than $1 million in contributions in 2025.
