Agio hits on sustainability trend with new outdoor collections

Agio is hitting the ground running this year with new product introductions as well as strategies for overcoming economic uncertainty.

Supply chain issues and employee shortages in China impacted the business, according to COO Leonard Saldana. The disruptions have led to delays in sourcing materials and increased costs.

“To address these challenges, we’ve diversified our supplier base and explored alternative sourcing options,” he says. “Looking ahead to the rest of 2025, we anticipate that these issues may continue to pose challenges, but we are hopeful that our proactive measures will help us navigate the situation more effectively.”

Driven by customer needs, he says there has been a shift in consumer spending from outdoor dining sets to more versatile outdoor seating collections. “As outdoor spaces serve as extensions of the home, there’s a growing demand for seating that is flexible and accommodating of gatherings,” he says.

To address these demands, the company is releasing two new collections that hit on the sustainability trend that has been taking the industry by storm.

“Many young consumers prioritize eco-friendly products and are more likely to choose outdoor furniture made from responsibly sourced materials,” Saldana says. “This shift is partly driven by a heightened awareness of environmental issues and a desire to support companies that align with their values. Our Resysta material is helping us fill this need in the market.”

The company’s newest collections feature Resysta, an alternative woodlike material that feels like real wood. It also allows the company to bend and shape chair frames in ways that other alternative materials cannot.

First is the Blake deep-seating group, which is crafted from Resysta, an eco-friendly and weather-resistant material made from reclaimed rice husks. This collection features a rich, warm brown tone that mimics the timeless appeal of wood.

The modern barrel-back chairs are enhanced with stylish woven rope accents that effortlessly curve around the back, creating a striking blend of texture and form.  With its sleek, simple lines and refined tables, this set makes a bold yet understated statement.

The second collection is the Cove collection, which features a seven-piece dining set, Alumicast four-chair stationary and a two-chair swivel.

Elevate your outdoor space with the perfect balance of contemporary design and enduring craftsmanship.

As far as trends go, Saldana says there’s a strong preference for contemporary and transitional designs, as these styles balance modern aesthetics with comfortable, classic elements.

“Traditional styles also have a market but tend to appeal more to those who favor timeless looks,” he says. “We see deep seating trending forward, particularly where comfort is paramount. Neutral colors remain popular for their versatility, but bold, vibrant hues are being embraced as well, especially for accent pieces.

“Earthy tones and natural finishes are also on-trend, reflecting a connection to nature,” he continues. “Furniture that incorporates mixed media — like wood, metal and fabric — is gaining traction. Such variety adds depth and visual interest to designs.”

Overall, Saldana adds that he’s looking forward to business this year and is excited for the industry to see these new products and trends in July at the Casual Market in Atlanta.
