Tropitone first opened its Las Vegas Market showroom last January, and this January it has moved to a new showroom in B-128.
President Frank Verna explains to Casual News Now that because the company turned over its entire product offering, it wanted to get in front of new full-line retailers and designers. And with High Point Market being so large, the company turned to Vegas for a market that will help get more quality eyes on their product.
“It’s a smaller market, more condensed and a little easier to work than High Point,” Verna says. “Also, when we left Chicago, our showroom costs were cut in half, so we had extra funds to invest in another market. We’ve expanded our offerings, have the right product for the audience and our new showroom is bigger than the last one. We’re investing heavily in that marketplace.”

He notes that the company also sees a fair amount of specialty casual retailers at the show, and over the past two markets saw some of the biggest specialty retailers they work with.
Tropitone is unique in that its product introduction schedule is based more on releasing products when they are ready rather than waiting for the big market in July to bring out all of its new lines.
“We’re not bottlenecking around shows,” Verna says. “What we’re doing is continuously flowing our products. Once a project is ready, we bring it into the market by launching it digitally on the website and then bringing it to whatever the next show is.”

In that vein, the company will release five new collections and two new table ranges at the Las Vegas Market this year.
Duval is a new sectional directed at residential designers and commercial public spaces. It’s available in a sage finish and one called Aragon, which is similar to a terra-cotta finish.
The company will launch two collections with mixed materials like rope, teak and aluminum. Stowe is one of these lines, featuring a full teak sofa, and Stratton, the second, has an aluminum frame with teak arms.
The Montreaux collection is a traditional look for Tropitone, but the company updated the look and feel with a fabric-covered cushion back, which now covers the rigid frame.

Finally, the company will introduce a daybed call Haven that features privacy blinds on the side, making it ideal for both commercial and residential use.
“We want to go fully configurable, so we offer 20 different finishes on the frames,” Verna adds. They use beautiful mixed materials and are offered in full collections including dining and deep seating. What’s great about our introduction cycle is that it allows us to show production samples rather than prototypes.”
Verna says the company is looking forward to another successful market this year and is excited to hear feedback about the new lines.
