Best Buy acquires Yardbird

Best Buy has acquired St. Louis Park, Minnesota-based outdoor furniture brand Yardbird in a deal that will bring its outdoor products to Best Buy’s website in the coming months. In the meantime, Yardbird will continue to sell its own selection of outdoor furniture on its website and in its seven showrooms across the U.S.

“Because customers are looking to us to complete their solutions, we have been expanding our assortment in categories like outdoor living, as more and more consumers look to makeover or upgrade their outdoor living spaces,” Best Buy CEO Corie Barry says.

In a blog post, Best Buy added that they admire Yardbird’s commitment to sustainability, as the company uses eco-friendly materials from plastic that would have otherwise ended up in the ocean. Yardbird has also partnered with carbonfund.org in an effort to offset its carbon footprint by reducing its packaging material usage and using recycled sources for some of its packaging materials.

“We are excited about the opportunity to use our expertise in merchandising and supply chain to scale this business – both online and in physical locations across the nation,” Barry adds.
