Casual retailer group launches employee benefit survey

The Outdoor Furniture Independent Retailers Group, a private Facebook group for specialty casual retailers, is launching a survey on employee benefits.

The survey—available at this link—will allow retail members of the group to anonymously share how they handle employee benefits at their stores. The survey closes Sunday, February 28.

“In our group, we often talk about various things and employee benefits has come up from time to time,” said Brad Schweig of Sunnyland Outdoor Living, who founded the group. “I know I am always wondering how we compare to our peers in the industry, and after throwing this idea out to our group, there was general support to put a survey out there.”

Schweig said the survey will be totally anonymous to ensure no one’s specific business practices will be revealed.

“The results of this survey will remain confidential,” he said. “No one, including me, will be able to see the individual answers for any one store, and it will only be shared with those who participate—so if you don’t participate, you won’t know the results.”

The group was founded in February 2020 following the ICFA Educational Conference. It is only open to ownership and senior-level management of independent outdoor furniture specialty retailers. Members discuss everything fro product availability, freight delays and early buys to warranty issues, and how different stores handle delivery. Interested retailers can join the group here

“It’s like a never-ending roundtable where people can add new topics on demand,” said Schweig. “New members are always welcome.”
