Ultrafabrics refreshes color palette for Ultraleather collection

Ultrafabrics, the Tarrytown, New York-based producer of performance fabrics, presents a refresh of one of its best-loved, classic collections, Ultraleather.

Recognized for its supple touch, natural grain and lasting performance, this classic collection has received a contemporary update with 10 fresh shades. These additions expand the offering to over 70 choices, ensuring its relevance in today’s design landscape and beyond.

Ultraleather can be used in multiple applications, including contract furniture and lounge seating in health care, RVs, marine and aviation. The timeless texture and soft touch is what this fabric is known for but it is also bleach cleanable (1:5 bleach/water solution) and incredibly durable [400,000 double rubs (Wyzenbeek), 180,000 rubs (Martindale)].

Ultrafabrics has made great strides since Ultraleather launched in 1999 and now includes partnerships with brands such as MillerKnoll, Fitbit, Jaguar Land Rover and Virgin Galactic. This year, Ultrafabrics celebrates its 25th anniversary and a quarter century of inspiration and innovation, with bold sights on a long and inventive future.

Nicole Meier, director of branding at Ultrafabrics, says, “The new Ultraleather hues are inspired by the appreciation of color nuances, otherwise known as color sensibility. We reflected on the enduring impact artists have had on color application across design, and we thoughtfully introduce this selection of timeless, yet modern, shades into the Ultraleather palette. In a way, Ultraleather is the ultimate representation of what Ultrafabrics does: We create beautiful, durable fabrics that last. It’s one of our most popular collections so we thought it needed a little color uplift for the 25th anniversary of the company.”

Sustainability has also come a long way for Ultraleather as it now contains over 50% rapidly renewable resources. By 2025, all Ultrafabrics collections will include rapidly renewable and/or recycled ingredients, the company said in a news release.

Ultraleather’s woven backcloth incorporates Tencel Modal, a man-made cellulosic fiber produced from renewable beech wood.
