Jensen Outdoor has created what it calls a “game-changing” video series on YouTube titled “Outdoor Confidential,” which dives into the secrets of luxury exterior design. The series will also be available as Reels on Instagram, including the first episode featuring Sunbrella.
The series, which is created for interior designers who may be missing out on the opportunity to design exteriors, aims to bridge a gap between interior designers and outdoor suppliers.
“If you’re an interior designer, it is likely that your expertise lies in the interior of the home space,” says Jensen’s Marketing Director Phillip Crowe. “But as an outdoor furniture manufacturer with a large network and access to expertise in exterior design, it makes sense for us to be that partner for interior designers and help them come to the outdoors. By adding an outdoor room to the project, the average interior designer can increase their total cart by 10%-20%.”
One message that Crowe says is critical to get across to interior designers is what happens to a beautiful piece of quality outdoor furniture when you leave it outside and why that can drive the cost of the product up. There’s a lot to learn when it comes to materials and how each one will weather in different climates, and Jensen’s video series aims to help answer those questions.
The inaugural episode offers a behind-the-scenes view of Sunbrella and features an in-depth conversation with the company’s key team members, including Sarah Dooley, marketing director; Greg Voorhis, executive design director; Steve Pawl, chief marketing officer; and Amy Gillam, design manager for outdoor and retail segments.
Topics covered range from the evolution of outdoor fabric styles to Sunbrella’s “Color to the Core” technology and its unwavering commitment to sustainability.
Crowe says this will be on an ongoing educational series, and the next episode is expected to release in spring 2024. Each one will focus on a new topic, from design theory to wood joinery and beyond.
“Our Sunbrella alliance champions design, innovation and sustainability,” Crowe adds. “Together, we’re scripting a new narrative for outdoor living — where every space narrates a distinct tale. Outdoor design transcends mere aesthetics; it’s about crafting experiences. ‘Outdoor Confidential’ offers viewers an immersive journey into the future of exterior design.”
