Founded in 1974, Panama Jack is a household name that’s become synonymous with beaches, adventures and outdoor living.
In 2012, when it came time to expand the brand into outdoor furniture, Pelican Reef became the worldwide licensee for Panama Jack Outdoor, and the brand has grown.
“Outdoor furniture has been a roller coaster of growth and stability over the past 10 years, mostly affected by the market events and conditions related to the pandemic and shipping issues in recent years,” says Pelican Reef CEO Allen Calzadilla. “The high-volume lower-price-point goods established the brand in the early 2012-2015 range, and since then the release of commercial quality yet residential-styled outdoor furniture helped Panama Jack Outdoor become a household name in your local retailer, or via your favorite e-commerce platform.”
Next year, Panama Jack is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the theme “50 Summers of Sun.” To celebrate that milestone, Pelican Reef will introduce the Panama Jack Wave In-Pool Chaise lounge, with cup and cellphone holder, at the upcoming Atlanta and Las Vegas Markets. The lounger was developed in the U.S. for outdoor spaces on the deck or in the pool at a price point that most homeowners can afford for their backyard oasis.
The company also released an outdoor pool table at the High Point Market, which is another unique product the company carries in addition to extravagant daybeds, chat sets and dining tables.
Calzadilla says that the brand’s popular name gives it an edge. “The end consumer walking into a store has heard of the Panama Jack brand over the past 50 years, versus the top 25 outdoor brands in the industry,” he says.
Over the next five years, Panama Jack Outdoor by Pelican Reef will continue to introduce new and unique items that offer a “wow” factor, according to Calzadilla. That means more daybeds, billiard and pool tables, outdoor sectionals and deep-seating collections.
