Sunnyland Outdoor honored for significant business growth

Sunnyland Outdoor Living, one of the largest outdoor furniture stores in Texas and a family-owned business for 52 years, was named one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the Dallas area by the SMU Cox Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship.

“In this challenging world of retail, I believe our foundation, business model, core values, business ethics and integrity are the foundation that enables Sunnyland to continue to be profitable and to be successful for our family’s next generation and for the years to come,” said David Schweig, president of Sunnyland Outdoor Living. “It is an absolute honor for Sunnyland to receive this recognition, and we are very grateful.”

The company opened a store in Frisco, Texas in 2020 — a smaller store than Sunnyland’s massive 37,000-square-foot flagship showroom. But the popularity of Frisco, as well as the want to own a store and not lease it, drove the company to the location, and it worked out well for the growing retailer.

“With the opening of our store in Frisco, our customers spending more time outdoors and our large range of in-stock outdoor furniture, we’ve grown significantly over the last three years,” said Brad Schweig, vice president of operations of Sunnyland Outdoor Living. “I would like to thank our incredible team and supportive community for our continued growth.”

The Dallas 100 Awards Gala was held on Nov. 2 to announce the rank of each company. Brad was in attendance to receive the award for Sunnyland. Sunnyland ranked as the 98th fastest-growing privately held business in the Dallas area.
