Three Birds Casual, which previously had a showroom in Showplace at High Point Market, has moved to Lloyd Flanders’ old showroom in Market Square. The move couldn’t have come at a better time, as the company is celebrating 25 years in business this year.
The company is also unique because it’s one of the few outdoor companies with a continued presence in High Point for years. Owner Tad Varga tells Casual News Now that the market has worked for their brand, as they sell higher-end outdoor products that appeal to designers.
“We find a lot of value in the High Point Market because it exposes our brand and the quality of our products to people that we wouldn’t typically meet in a lot of the casual furniture markets,” Varga explains. “We gain brand recognition with designers that you know don’t necessarily run in those circles, and they do some pretty high visibility projects, both commercial and residential.”
And High Point isn’t for everyone, according to Varga. He says there’s a limited amount of outdoor furniture manufacturers that would fit the type of clientele base that’s coming to this show because it skews higher end.
The company liked its place on the second floor of Showplace and was reluctant to move, but Varga explains that he’s very comfortable with the new space and looks forward to the industry seeing how they’ve set it up.
Celebrating 25 years in business makes it a perfect time to get started in a new showroom, according to Varga.
“I feel fortunate and blessed that we’ve been able to build a successful organization during that time,” Varga says. “This year has been a decent year for us. Where others have had issues, we’ve managed to stay mostly flat — maybe a few points up — with strong sales. I feel positive about the way things are going with it, where early buys are coming in, and we’ve retained all our dealers from our the last few years, and so things are good. We’ve also added a number of new dealers since the last show in Atlanta.”
He says he expects an uptick in business next year because a lot of retailers already have gone through all that excess inventory, and they’re going to need new product for their floor.
